Court rejects Dayasiri’s request to be recognised as SLFP General Secretary

The Western Provincial Civil Appellate Court today (28) rejected a request by Dayasiri Jayasekara to be recognized as the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

Jayasekara had previously filed a case in the Colombo District Court seeking recognition as party secretary. He also requested an interim injunction to prevent Duminda Dissanayake from acting as General Secretary and Nimal Siripala de Silva from holding the position of Chairman.

After the Colombo District Court rejected his initial request, Jayasekara appealed the decision to the Western Provincial Civil Appeal Court. During today’s hearing, the appellate court also refused to issue an interim injunction against Dissanayake and de Silva. The preliminary hearing for the case has been fixed for January 8, 2027.
