Court rejects overseas travel for Isuru Bandara after CID submissions

Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (29) rejected the request to allow Isuru Bandara,  who said to be the boy friend of Thicko Group owner Thilini Priyamali, who has been released on on bail in connection with a case of large-scale money fraud, to go abroad. The magistrate rejected the request, stating that Isuru Bandara’s request to go abroad was made for his graduation ceremony and that date has already passed.

The Magistrate allowed his request to go abroad in one of the cases against him and when another case was called, he rejected the second request according to a notification that the Criminal Investigation Department would oppose it.

Ajith Pathirana, the attorney who appeared for Isuru Bandara, told court that further education activities of the suspect have stalled due to not being able to participate in the graduation

ceremony and therefore it is necessary to obtain certificates to submit for other study activities.

The Criminal Investigation Department informed the court that the case would be prejudiced if the suspect went abroad and did not return and the magistrate requested that relevant documents be submitted and to make the request properly.

Thilini Priyamali, the owner of Thicko Group, who has been released on bail, Borelle Sirisumana Thera, who has been released on bail after being accused of aiding and abetting her

frauds, Isuru Bandara, who is said to be Thilini Priyamali’s boyfriend, Krrish Group Director Janaki Siriwardena, Alagaratnam Manoranjan, the owner of the gold jewellery store who allegedly bought jewellery for cash, were present in court.
