Court reprimands monk, eight others for avoiding case

Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday issued warrants to eight suspects, including Ven.Tampitiye Sugathananda Thera for not appearing in court when the case pertaining to their alleged participation in a protest march from Kelaniya University to Colombo Fort protesting against the remand of a group of Kelaniya University students in connection with a ragging incident was taken up.

The Chef Magistrate said that all the suspects should appear in court the next scheduled day when the case is heard. The Chief Magistrate also said that if even one suspect does not appear in court, all the suspects will be remanded in custody after revoking bail until the case is over.
