COVID-19 at its peak – JVP

JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that Sri Lanka currently is at the height of the COVID – 19 pandemic.

He said that this situation has arisen due to the failure of the authorities to make proper assessments, decisions and actions.

Dissanayake said the public should be aware of the current situation as more than 200 deaths are reported daily, making it one of the highest in the world in comparison to the country’s population.

“Although the Government has instructed that half of the existing hospital system in the country should be used for the control of Covid, the existing hospital system in the country is not even adequate for ordinary patients,” he added.

He said that there was a shortage of drugs in the country too as a whole and stressed that the Government should understand this situation and act more responsibly.
