COVID not entirely the cause for country’s economic collapse – SJB

Other countries too were affected by the pandemic yet their economies were not badly affected like Sri Lanka, SJB MP Sarath Fonseka told Parliament yesterday. He said hence the administration cannot pin the blame on the present economic situation on the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

He made these observations joining the Adjournment Debate on its second day on the Government’s Policy Statement delivered by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Parliament on Tuesday.

He said the political culture should be changed in the country rather than changing the Constitution and law strengthening their power. Politicians would not change it so the people should do it. He added that they thought the youth would make a change but the did not do so.

He requested the people not to vote for the parcel of food or a shot of liquor.
