The Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe is more concerned about Cricket and Football Audit reports and ordered to hand over them to Special Investigation Unit (SIU) for finding Sports Offenses.
The special investigation report of Sri Lanka Cricket and the special audit report issued by the National Audit Office with the special investigation report of the Sri Lanka Football Federation and the internal audit report conducted by the Ministry of Sports were submitted to the Special Investigation Unit for finding Sports Offenses at the Ministry of Sports last Tuesday.
In connection with the T20 World Cup cricket tournament held in Australia in 2022, the investigation report formally conducted by the five-member committee including retired Supreme Court judge Kusala Sarojani Weerawardena was issued on last April 4 and the special audit report issued by the National Audit Office on last September 11 are among these reports.
Similarly, the special investigation report issued on last April 4 on the Sri Lanka Football Federation, and the audit report conducted by the Internal Audit Division of the Ministry of Sports regarding fraud and corruption in the Football Federation was also handed over to Special Investigation Unit.
The Sports and Youth Affairs Ministry Secretary K. Mahesan has handed over the Audit reports and special investigation reports to Director of the Special Investigation Unit for Sports Offenses DIG W.A.J.H. Fonseka.
The Sports Ministry Secretary K.Mahesan said they will conduct further legal proceedings in relation to these investigations in accordance with the Prevention of Sports Offenses Act 2019 No. 24.
