Fifth year coloursman, Right hand opening bat, Right arm medium pace bowler who opens the attack, Safe fielder, Captain of the side, Gampaha District Poolist and under 23 Premier Cricketer Hasindu Piumal has brought honour and immense glory to his alma mater Dharmaloka College Kelaniya with his deeds in the field of Cricket.
Hasindu who hails from Dippitigoda Kelaniya was born on 21 st March 2023 and admitted to Dharmaloka College in 2009 when the present Principal Colonel A.G.Nimal Jayaweera was at the helm of the school a From his smaller days Hasindu was keen on cricket and playing with his neighbouring friends his Parents Neville Wickramaarachchi and Sudeera Chamini handed over their son to the School Coach M.Udaya at the age of eight years and his Master in Charge was Nishantha. After strenuous practices he was selected to the under 13 Division two team in 2012 and played for the team in 2013, 2014, 2015 and in 2016 he captained the team and scored 288 runs in six outings with five fifties and claimed 12 wickets.
His first year in the under 15 was in 2017 and he passed the 400 run mark with a century against Bandaranayake Vidyalaya and four half centuries and bagged 17 scalps with a five wicket haul and captaining in the following year he scored 437 runs in six matches with five fifties and captured 17 scalps with a one five wicket haul and his Master in Charge was MNishantha and Prefect of Games was Kelum Deshapriya and his Coaches were Eranga and Sudath Nanayakkara. That year there was no Prima Tournament and he was selected to the Gampaha District Team. Then in 2019 in the under 17 Tournament in five matches he collected 302 runs with two fifties and took eleven wickets and in the following year due to Coronavirus there was no tournament.
With these performances under his belt he was selected to the first eleven pool in 2018 and in 2019 he scored 522 runs with seven fifties and claimed 21 wickets and played for the Big Match and the Limited overs match with their arch rivals Gurukula Vidyalaya. With the outbreak of Corona virus cricket was at a standstill and during that period Sanjana Bambarakanda was the Coach. In 2022 he captained the team in six Limited Over Matches and former Nalandian Hiran Gunawardene took over as the coach and they are looking forward to play the Big Match.
As an under 13 and an under 15 player he represented the S.N.C.A. Cricket Academy Colombo and played Inter Academy matches under Sudath Nanayakkara. In the meantime he joined the Lankans Sports Club and played in the under 23 Premier Tournament and the Coach was Ruwan Shiroman.
