Sixteen year old Captain of Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya Gampaha Vishmi Gunaratne guided her Alma Mater to clinch the all island under 19 girls cricket championship 2022 by beating formidable Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda by 66 runs and organized by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and worked off at Bloomfield Grounds.
Rathnawali Balika commenced cricket under the guidance of present Principal Mrs. Hema Jayawardane in 2013 and since to date her support and help extended to cricket carried along way for their success. There Coach is Gayan Munasinghe and the Teacher in Charge is Mrs. Anusha Gunasekera and team Manager is Aruna Gunaratne. Vishmi who is a National Player who bats right hand and bowls right arm medium pace became the Best Batter of the recently concluded Ladies Premier Cricket Tournament representing Chilaw Marians which was conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.
In this years girls tournament Vishmi scored exactly 900 runs in eight matches and unbeaten on five occasions at a Bradmansque average of 300 and grabbed 8 wicketsfor 37 in two outings. She scored an unbeaten Quadruple Century and two centuries and two fifties and in the finals she played a scintillating unbeaten 125 runs which paved a long way to clinch the much coveted title.
