Crowds urged not to disturb elephants at Kandy Perahera

Police request viewers not to blow horns, light torches and point laser beams at the elephants at the Kandy Perahera.

According to a notification given by veterinarians that there is a greater risk of disturbing the elephants travelling in the procession due to these activities, Police have taken steps to inform people about it. During the second Kumbal Perahara, several elephants ran amok and investigations conducted regarding the incident revealed that the situation was caused by the front part of a flute held by a child hitting the trunk. Police also said that there is no obstacle to carry out related activities in any place of the city apart from Perahera road.
