Customs nets highest monthly Rs.109 Bn revenue in October

Sri Lanka Customs (SLC) has earned its highest-ever monthly revenue in October this year (2023), which amounted to Rs.109 billion in total. Compared to previous months this year, the monthly revenue earned in October 2023 is the highest recorded this year,

Customs media spokesperson Seevali Arukgoda said. Arukgoda said that the Sri Lanka Customs had earned a revenue of more than Rs.109 billion in October.

According to SLC, the major reason for the increase in revenue in October 2023 was analysed and evaluated as due to streamlining and making the tax collection process more efficient.

The total revenue collected by the Customs Department in the first 10 months of 2023 up to October 31 has added up to Rs.760 billion, the Customs further said.

The total Customs revenue that would be collected this year is expected to exceed Rs.925 billion, added the Customs Media spokesperson.
