Cut the electricity at Medamulana – Sajith
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday questioned why the Government which orders to cut the electricity in the Maha Maluwa, cannot cut the electricity at Medamulana.
He made this comment while addressing the Mahajana Pawura programme on Sunday in Maharagama.
The Opposition Leader who said that the Government will protect the Rajapaksas by building a ‘great wall’, said that the only option for the country today is the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and the Samagi Jana Sandhanaya (People’s Alliance).
A new normal is felt through the words ‘New Normal’, coined during the Corona pandemic. The same process has been created by President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s economic contraction,
shrinking people’s lives and creating a ‘new normal’ situation. Even if everything seems to be right in it, everything has become the new normal by imposing pressure and unrest upon the people on the surface, the Opposition Leader said.
He said that the electricity bill has increased by 500 percent and even the prices of gas and fuel and other goods have gone up and the living conditions that existed in the past have now become a serious situation and it has become the ‘new normalcy’ of bankruptcy.
The Opposition Leader further said that although the Government cannot control the rainfall, if a proper management process was carried out based on the data and forecasts of the Meteorological Department, there would be no shortage of water in the Udawalawe reservoir. The water in many tanks and bunds of the Udawalawe has decreased and the farmers have been put under immense pressure.
He said further that when the electricity was cut at Mihintale, the question arose why the alternative parties with huge amounts of money were not able to pay the electricity bill, but they used their money to bring people in buses and deceive the people.
“There is no common candidate but that cheating and deceiving people exist,” he said.
