Damana Police arrest treasure hunters

Damana Police arrested a group of 10 persons, who attempted rob treasures allegedly hidden in a rock at Malayadiya Villege in Ampara at the wee hours on Tuesday. On a tip-off, a group of police officers attached to the Damana Police led by OIC D. M. N. M. Dissanayake arrested the suspects and seized the equipment they brought to excavate the treasure, which included two scanners, detonators, drilling machine to drill the rock etc., and the needy materials to perform rituals. The suspects are from Nawagamuwa, Dedigamuwa, Homagama, Meegoda, Kirindiwela, Ruwanwella and Colombo-15. Incidentally, no villagers were among the suspects. The suspects are to be produced before the Ampara Magistrate.
