An Indian cyclist residing in Sri Lanka embarked on a charity cross country cycle tour to raise funds for Karapitiya Cancer Word. The cyclist Waishak Sitharam Datani is an employee of the Sheraton Turtle Beach Hotel, Kosgoda started the tour on November 4 from Kosgoda and covering a total distance of 1311kms completed the tour on November 14.
Datani was warmly welcomed by his hotel staff and people in Kosgoda area at the end of his long journey. He raised funds by selling hand bands while continuing his journey through out Sri Lanka. After his journey, many people have volunteered to support Karapitiya Cancer word. Many local and foreign donors have pledged their support to Cancer word to buy medical equipment. Datani’s aim was to collect at least Rs. five million to aid the Cancer word.
Sheraton Turtle Beach Hotel has donated Rs. 80 million to Karapitiya Cancer word.
