Daughter arrested over Kahawatte woman’s murder

The daughter of the 71-year-old woman Vineetha Jayasundara who was found murdered in Wellandura Kahawatte, has been arrested on suspicion of committing the crime. The 38-year-old woman was arrested early on Saturday following questioning.

The woman was found murdered with stab wounds on December13. Police suspect that she had been murdered in the living room, and her body had been dragged out through the front door to the back yard of the house. The suspect is an employee of the Divisional Secretariat office in Kahawatta.

Police has arrested her on suspicion due to several factors including her movements on the day of the murder. Police are further investigating the incident.
