Dubai: The second day of the four day, 30th edition Arabian Travel Market at the World Trade Centre concluded yesterday with the Sri Lankan stand drawing some positive inquiries.

“The event saw the highest number of participants in recent time and many new companies too participated and expressed satisfaction with the number of inquiries they received,” said Director Marketing and Business Development Sri Lanka Tourism Dushan Weerasooriya.

He said that Gulf is a very important market for Sri Lanka as it gives multiple benefits to tourism. “First Arabs are high spenders and travel with their families.”

In addition to the Sri Lankan Travel sector participants, SriLankan Airlines and Sri Lanka’s only private airline operating daily flights to Dubai and Chennai have taken stands along with Cinnamon Hotels.

Several press conferences were also held and they disclosed that according to Sustainable Travel International, tourism is responsible for approximately eight per cent of global carbon emissions from transport, food and beverage, accommodation and related goods and services.
