Death of Air Traffic Control Head Nishan Abeywardena

Air traffic control department head Nishan Abeywardena passed away on Tuesday (12) due to a heart attack while on duty. He joined as an air traffic controller in 1990 and became the head of air traffic services in 2019 after 29 years service.

He has received his tertiary education from the University of Wales, UK and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. A father of a daughter and a son, he was 58 years old when he died.His remains lie at the Jayaratne “Restpect Home “ hall in Borella and the last rites will be done today (14) at the Borella Cemetery.
