Debate with NPP Leader: Kanchana throws down the gauntlet

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera threw down the gauntlet on a head to head debate saying that he will take on National People’s Power Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake anywhere.

Wijesekera said in Parliament yesterday (13) that if Dissanayake is ready for a debate with him, he will come even to the JVP Headquarters in Battaramulla.

The Minister also said that it was stated in a news alert message of a television station that Dissanayake had accepted the challenge for a debate with him. Minister Wijesekera said that he is also ready for that debate.

The Minister said that he would also request the relevant channel to make arrangements for the debate and inform the NPP Leader about it.

However, the Minister said that he had come to know that a representative of the NPP Wasantha Samarasinghe, would participate in the debate, and the participation of an outsider in a debate based on a challenge made in Parliament could not be approved.

Wijesekera also said that if a trade union representative participates in the challenge made to Dissanayake, he can also get a trade union representative from his side to participate.
