Decoy PC gets hammered by women during raid

Kebithigollewa Police have arrested two women for assaulting an apprentice police constable during   a cannabis raid at Thulana, Kebithigollewa on Tuesday (3).

The police officer attached to the Divisional Crimes Investigation Unit of Kebithigollewa is sustaining injuries to his face and ear and has been admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital, police said.

According to the police, those who attacked the officer are the 19-year-old wife and the 27-year-old sister of the 23-year-old cannabis smuggler, whose house was raided.

It was reported that police had used the apprentice Police Constable as a decoy to buy cannabis from the smuggler and he was assaulted by the two women when the police arrested the smuggler during the raid.

Police produced the suspects before courts.
