Deduru Oya drowning: Two dead, six missing

Two bodies have been recovered, while two others have been admitted to hospital and six persons remain missing after a group of 15 went bathing in the Deduru Oya in Nikaweratiya, within the Kobeigane Police Division, Police said.

The deceased have been identified as a man and a woman.

Police said seven individuals from Kadawatha had been visiting a relative’s house in Kobeigane.

A total of 15 people from the same household, including visitors, had later gone to the Deduru Oya for bathing when the incident occurred, Police said. (Newswire)
