Dehiwala Zoo welcomes Lion cub ‘Simba’
The public has now got the opportunity to see the lion cub named ‘Simba’, a recent addition to the Dehiwala National Zoo.National Zoological Department Director General Dr. Thilak Premakantha, said that five-week-old Simba will be put on public display everyday at Dehiwala Zoo’s Elephant Theater-01 (near the main restaurant) from 9.30 am to 10.30 am and from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm.
Simba, born to Chandi and Meera at the Hambantota Safari Park, was rejected by the mother after birth. Hence, Simba has been brought to the Dehiwala National Zoo and is being cared under the supervision of veterinarians and animal caretakers.
Premakantha also said that Simba has won the attention of all the schoolchildren who come to visit the Dehiwala National Zoo during the school holidays.
