Dela faults Wildlife Dept for Seetha’s shooting

According to the statement made by the Civil Defence Officer attached to the Wildlife Department that Seetha elephant was shot thinking it was a wild elephant, there is a problem with the procedure followed by the Wildlife Department to drive away the elephants, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela said.

He said that the Wildlife Department accuses the farmers or hunters for the wild elephants that are injured by gunshots, but this incident shows that the wild elephants can be seriously injured due to the shootings of the Wildlife Officers to drive away the elephants.
