Sri Lanka Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne jumped to a career-best No.5 in the batting charts of the latest ICC Test Rankings.

In the batting charts, Karunaratne moved up to a career-best position after his fighting 107 in the second innings against India in Bangalore. Before the Indian Test series Karunaratne was no. eight position and he moved to three positions from 8 to 5 after making a fighting century at Bangalore day night Test.

In fact Karunaratne is the top Asian batter in this latest ranking.

However former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, slipped to ninth spot, with Pakistan skipper Babar Azam advancing to No.8 in the table which led by Australian Marnus Labuschagne, followed by England’s Joe Root, Australian Steve Smith and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson respectively.

Sri Lanka’s Angelo Matthews on 29th place while Dhananjaya de Silva 31 and Niroshan Dikwella on 36th at the latest batting rankings.

Meanwhile Sri Lankan two leg spinners Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama also moved up five positions each to the 32nd and 45th slot respectively in the bowlers rankings.Suranga Lakmal who retired from International cricket is in 23rd position of the bowling ranking while off spinner Ramesh Mendis who missed Indien series due to injury is in 41st place and seamer Lahiru Kumara is at 48.

Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah, who bagged eight wickets, including his maiden Test five-for at home in the second Test in Bangalore, jumped six spots to attain the fourth place in the ICC Test Rankings for Australian skipper Pat Cummins is top spot in the bowling rankings followed by Indian off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and South African paceman Kagiso Rabada.

West Indian Jason Holder is on top of the Test all rounder rankings followed by two Indians Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin and Bangladesh Sakib Al Hasan.

Meanwhile Rohit Sharma’s stint as Indian Test captain got off to a perfect start as India completed a 2-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka with a 238-run win in Bengaluru which helped India climb a spot to No.4 in the latest ICC World Test Championship standings.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, dropped two spots from No.3 to No.5 after the Australia on top of the points table with 60 points followed by Pakistan, South Africa and India.
