The promising Dinara de Silva produced an outstanding performance to clinch the Girls’ Singles Under-18 title at the 107th Colombo Open Tennis Championships, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.
The number eight seed and the schoolgirl from St. Bridget’s Convent, also put herself in contention for a double by defeating Hasali Gajaba in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in the final encounter.
Dinara will look to claim her second title in this tournament when she takes on Githmi Fernando in the Girls’ Under-16 final match today.
In addition, Savini Jayasuriya and Janali Manamperi will meet the combination of Hasali Gajaba and Saneshi Willolaarachchi in the Women’s Doubles final encounter today. (C.D)
