Dinesh led alliance to contest under Cylinder symbol

Former Parliamentarian Nimal Lanza yesterday said the People’s United Freedom Alliance led by former Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena will contest the upcoming Parliamentary election under the Cylinder symbol.

Lanza said that all parties who supported independent Presidential candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe at the last Presidential Election will contest the upcoming Parliamentary election under the Cylinder symbol.

Meanwhile former Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage when contacted by the Daily News yesterday evening said that the new alliance, the United National Party and other parties that supported Presidential candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe have come to an agreement to contest under the Cylinder symbol following a series of discussions.

He added that a formal agreement in this regard is expected to be signed soon.

He said that the SLFP is to take decision with regard to Parliament election today and they will most likely to contest under the Cylinder symbol. “We will field candidates for every electorate around the country,” he said.
