Discussions on to establish Traditional Chinese Medicine Training Institute in Sri Lanka

International Director of the Commonwealth Iconic Federation Dr. Ma Jia ci yesterday said that discussion is going on to establish Traditional Chinese Medicine Training Institute in Sri Lanka .

Dr. Jia ci said that many students aspiring to pursue Traditional Chinese Medicine will benefit by this move. He said that that China has advanced traditional medicine system and Sri Lankans can derive the benefits of Chinese Traditional Medicine practices.

“The objective of establishing this training institute is to forge closer relations with China in the realm of indigenous medicine, he said.

Dr. Jia ci was speaking at a press conference at the Information Department yesterday.

He said that China has vast history of its own medicine and therapy system and the country is rich in herbal plants centring Kunlun mountain range. Dean of the Kunlun Academy Professor Wang Xiao Wei said that Sri Lanka’s potential to expand its own traditional medicinal practices is enormous.

He said that they had very little knowledge about Sri Lanka’s rich traditional medicine system. Professor Wei was among the delegation of Kulun Academy who participated in the Commonwealth Iconic Summit which was inaugurated in Colombo on June 14.

The Chinese delegation said that they were very impressed with the Aurvedic medicine sector in Sri Lanka.

The Chinese delegates visited Navinna Ayurvedic Hospital. The Chinese delegates said that Sri Lanka has vast potential to develop traditional medicinal system and medicinal herbs.

They said that this field can be developed to attract more tourists to the country and medicines can be manufactured using medicinal herbs used by traditional medical practitioners in Sri Lanka.
