Document chewing lawyer further remanded

The Kekirawa Court yesterday refused bail for a female lawyer who allegedly chewed and destroyed two copies of essential documents which were in the Court safe. The lawyer was later arrested by the Police after the Court staff, videotaped the entire incident and complained about it to the Kekirawa Police Station. Court yesterday ordered her to be further remanded till August 9. The Kekirawa Police were further ordered by the Court to take steps to send her blood samples taken by the forensic pathologist at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital on July 31 to the Government analyst for DNA testing.

The lawyer allegedly tried to chew and swallow the original documents related to a case being heard in the Kekirawa District Court against her.
