Don’t divest Sapugaskanda Refinery – Sajith

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday expressed deep concern over the Government’s  intention of handing over the controlling power of the Sapugaskanda Petroleum Refinery to the Indian Oil Company (IOC).

He said handing over such a valuable property to another party could be considered as a crime if it does happen.

The Opposition Leader made these remarks at a meeting he had with a group of Trade Union representatives attached to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

He said at a time when the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery could be easily controlled by our own workforce and it is not the solution to hand over this valuable refinery to another party.
