Dr. Fernando said things I did not tell him – Schaffter’s wife

Wife of Janashakthi Group of companies Director Dinesh Schaffter yesterday told court that consultant psychiatrist Dr.Neil Fernando had given a statement on Schaffter to court and had told facts that she did not tell Dr.Fernando in his statement.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya yesterday ordered the court registrar to handover the Government Analyst’s report and other reports pertaining to the death of Dinesh Schaffter, to the five-member committee which was appointed in order to ascertain whether the death was a murder or suicide.

The Magistrate further observed that the Committee had informed court through a letter that they required more time to conclude the cause of Dinesh Schaffter’s death. On February 28, the Additional Magistrate had appointed a five-member committee comprising judicial and forensic medicine experts to determine the cause of death of Schaffter. Accordingly, Prof.Asela Mendis, Prof. D.C.R Perera, Prof.D.N.P Fernando, Dr.Siva Subramaniam and Dr.Rohan Ruwanpura were appointed to the investigation panel. The Magistrate fixed further inquiries for April 24.
