Dr. Susil expected to seek SC permission to fill graduate teacher recruitments

Leader of the House and Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha yesterday said in Parliament that he is expected to go to the Supreme Court through the Attorney General to obtain the permission to re-conduct the examination for recruitment of graduate teachers to fill the teacher vacancies. The examination to recruit teachers was suspended based on the order of the Supreme Court.

Accordingly, the minister said that if the relevant permission is obtained, the examination will be held within a short period of time and the recruitment of teachers will be carried out.

He said that 7,500 appointments will be granted to those passing out from the Colleges of Education on June 15 and the Minister said that they are currently working to recruit graduates for the necessary subjects for newly created vacancies. He also said that they have agreed to find a solution to the problem with regard to acting principals within three months.The Minister made this statement while answering a question raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Preamadasa regarding the acting principal issue.
