Driving licences handed over to hearing impaired in Matara
For the first time in the Matara district, a programme to give driving licences to the hearing impaired was held at the Matara-Fort Migadaya Temple yesterday (16).
Here, drivers’ licences were given to people with hearing impairment but with other abilities residing in Matara district and a special sticker was affixed to the motorcycle or vehicle they were using as a person with hearing impairment.
Hearing impaired people and Government officials participated in this event. Ruhunu Sumaga Hearing Impairment Forum, Matara District Motor Vehicle Inspection Office, Social Services Division of Matara District Secretariat jointly organised this programme.
