Drug addicts cut power wires near Anderson Flats

The Power Technical Officer of the Colombo Municipal Council had complained to the Narahenpita Police, on Thursday (10) that a group of drug addicts had cut the electrical wires between the street lamp posts near the Anderson Flats complex in Narahenpita.

During the investigation, police found that the drug addicts are cutting the wires, melting them and extracting copper which they are selling.

Prior to this, in the Borella Serpentine apartment complex too, drug addicts had cut the electric wires even though there were electrical connections in operations.

A drug addict had tried to cut the electrical wires of an electrical transformer in Wanathamulla Borella on Esala Poya day. Due to the cutting of wires by a drug addict, more than 1,000 houses did not have electricity for more than six hours.
