Drunk PC who caused accident interdicted

A Constable from Kalkudah Police Station, who was arrested by the officials of the Traffic Division of the Valachchenai Police for causing an accident by driving a Police jeep under the influence of alcohol, has been remanded till November 9 after being produced in the Valachchenai Magistrate’s Court.

The Constable was driving the jeep belonging to the Kalkudah Police Station to bring the Kalkudah Police OIC, who was on duty at the Valachchenai Court, to the Police station. The jeep which was going from Kalkudah to Valachchenai went off the road in front of the fisheries harbour and hit a wall of a house and collided with a van parked in the yard. The Valachchenai Police say that this officer was arrested and during a medical test at the Valachchenai Hospital, it was confirmed he was under the influence of alcohol.

On Saturday (4), the Valachchenai Assistant Superintendent of Police had taken steps to interdict this officer.
