Dubai visa fraudster gets heavy bail

Ali Mohammadu Razik who was taken into custody in connection with an incident where he had defrauded a number of people of hundreds of thousands of rupees by forging visas issued by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates and stating that he will provide job opportunities in Dubai, was released on two surety bails of Rs. 5 million each by the Additional Magistrate of Kandy, Mohammed Rafi, yesterday (21).

This businessman said to be a brother of Samagi Jana Balavegaya Kandy District MP, M H.A. Haleem was arrested by the Special Crimes Investigation Division of the Kandy Division on June 17, based on complaints made by three persons that he had promised to get them jobs in Dubai and swindled them.

During an inquiry made from the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates by referring the visas that the suspect had given to the complainants, the police said it was confirmed by them that they were forged.

Inspector Sanjeewa, Police Sergeant (81992) Hettiarachchi, Constable Nuwan, conducted investigations and arrested the suspect, under the directions of Officer-In-Charge of the Kandy Headquarters Police Special Crimes Investigation Division, Chief Inspector W. M. S. Uvindasiri.

The Additional Magistrate ordered that the suspect released on bail, appear in court on October 27.
