After going through the basics of the game he was selected to the Under 13 ‘B’ team in the year 2015 at the Cricket tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.
In the first year itself he showed his skills in bowling by bagging 24 wickets in the All Island Cricket tournament and his best bowling feat was claiming 7 wickets for 61 runs against Srinaga Vidyalaya, Naula. The next year he showed better performance in bowling under the coaching of Ananda Wijesekera when he bagged 30 wickets during the season and his outstanding feat as a second year player in bowling was claiming five wickets for 73 runs.
As a third year player in the Under 13 team Dulara showed vast improvement as an all rounder bagging Twenty five wickets and his best bowling feat was claiming Eight wickets for Forty runs against Sri Sumangala MV, Kandy in both innings. He scored 120 runs during the season, his highest being scoring an unbeaten knock of 40 runs against St. Joseph VaZ, Wennappuwa. In the year 2018 under the coaching of Indika Fernando he climbed up the ladder of success as an all rounder to capture 20 wickets with his capacity as a left arm spin bowler to claim 28 wickets and scoring 150 runs during the season, his highest being Forty runs against Sri Sumangala Maha Vidyalaya,Kandy and his best bowling feat was claiming a record eight wickets for eight runs for 8 runs against Sandalanka National School.
In the year 2019 Dulara was appointed the Captain of the Under 15 Cricket team and showed his talents and leadership qualities to bring up his team to the final round of the tournament. He bagged 20 wickets during the season and scored 120 runs his highest being scoring an unbeaten knock of Forty runs against St Mary’s College, Kegalle, his best bowling feat was claiming Six wickets for 20 runs in the particular match.
He was selected to the District Under 15 Cricket Pool under the coaching of Amila Pinnaduwa, the Provincial Cricket coach and in 2020 he was selected to the Under 17 and Under 19 Cricket Pool under the coaching of Thushira Silva, Cricket Coach and former Cricketer of Ananda College but due to the Covid Epidemic the cricket practices were curtailed.
Dulara’s future intention is to continue cricket to become a National level Cricketer as well as do higher Studies to the best of his ability and he is thankful to all his Cricket Coaches who gave him the best assistance and encouragement to come to this standard.
