Duvindu and Kasun-best bowling and batting performance
BRC leg spinner Duvindu Tillekaratne and Chilaw Marians left hander Kasun Vidura have the best bowling and batting performance at the ongoing Major clubs limited over cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
The 25 year old left arm orthodox bowler Thilakaratne who was adjudged the best bowler of the recently concluded Mercantile Super League tournament was once again among the wickets taking 19 wickets in 6 matches with best figures 5 for 26 against Ragama CC also having two four wickets hauls while Colts CC off spinner Akila Dananjaya having 18 wickets followed by CCC‘s Ashan Priyanjan and Chilaw Marians leg spinner Pulina Tharanga with 17 wickets each.
Meanwhile 28 year old former St. Joseph’s Vaz left hander Kasun Vidura is in terrific form scoring highest runs 446 runs in six matches with an average of 89.20. He scored a superb knock of 140 against Air Force SC having two more half centuries while Ragama CC wicket keeper Nishan Madushka is in second slot scoring 326 runs with tournament highest score of 165 against Nugegoda SC while BRC ‘s T.M Sampath (301) and SSC Nipun Dhananjaya was lying fourth with 272 runs and Colts CC Sangeeth Cooray with 265 runs. Last Friday ten Major clubs limited over matches were worked off while SSC managed to retain the top spot in the Group A points table as they recorded a thrilling 19-run win over Moors Sports Club in a low-scoring encounter.
The left-arm spinner Sasika Dilshan, who picked up 7 wickets for 28 runs in his 7-over spell, turned the game in favour of victorious SSC.
.Nishan Madushka who scored 165 in 133 balls with 18 fours and 2 sixes was the highlight of the Ragama CC in their winning game against Nugegoda SC. SSC, Tamil Union and Moors SC having 15 points are leading the groupA but considering the net run rate SSC on top with a net run rate of 1.839 followed by Tamil Union (1.629 )and Moors (1.089) Meanwhile Sri Lanka Army SC having 15 points after 6 matches on top of the group B followed by CCC with 14 points and BRC and Panadura SC with 11 points each.
