Easter attacks: AG requests CJ to appoint Trial-at- Bar

The Attorney General had requested the Chief Justice to appoint a Trial-at-Bar to hear the Indictments comprising 23, 270 charges against 25 accused before the Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attacks that took place on April 21 in 2019.

The Indictments have been filed in connection with 8 attacks on Kochchikade St.Anthony’s church ,Katuwapitiya St.Sebastian’s Church, The Kingsbury Hotel, Shangri- la Colombo, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Batticaloa Zion Church, Dehiwala Tropical Inn against 25 accused including Naufer Mowlawi, Sajid Mawlawi, Mohammed Milhan, Sadik Abdullah, Aadam Lebbe alias Gafoor mama, Mohammed Sansadeen and Mohammed Rizwan.

The indictments were filed against accused under the Prevention of Terrorism Act including charges of conspiracy, preparation, aiding and abetting, collection of explosives and weapons, murder and attempted murder.
