Education Minister visits IIT-Madras to discuss setting up of branch here
As envisioned by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to set up a branch of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras) in Sri Lanka, Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha recently met senior officials of IIT Madras, in Chennai.
The meeting which took place at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras) campus on December 15, was organized by Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Southern India Dr. D. Venkateshwaran.
IIT-Madras Director Dr. V. Kamakoti, Professor of the Department of Applied Mechanics Dr. Mahesh Panchagnula and Senior Project Officer, University Relations, Priya Venkat from IIT-Madras participated in the meeting. During the meeting, Minister Dr. Premajayantha said that a team of experts from Colombo would be sent to IIT-Madras for further discussions on the proposal.
