Egg price will not increase, surplus in production – Dr. Hemali Kotalawela
The Animal Production and Health Department says that the price of eggs will not increase in the future due to the decrease in the price of animal feed after the Government gave permission to import maize.
According to the statistics of the department, it is expected that there will be a surplus in the egg production by December and because of this there will be no shortage of eggs in the future, the Director General of the Animal Production and Health Department, Dr. Hemali Kotalawela said.
She said that the main reason for the increase in the price of egg products is due to the increase in the price of animal feed.
She added that the price of maize mainly determines the price of animal feed.
Dr. Hemali Kotalawela said that the Government has given permission for the import of maize and accordingly the price of animal feed will decrease and there is no possibility of an increase in the price of animal feed in this situation.
