Eight arrested over robbery at KKS cement factory

Officers of the Kankasanturai Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested eight persons including three security guards for stealing machinery parts from the Government-owned cement factory in Kankesanthurai (KKS), to sell as scrap metal.

“According to information received, five suspects transporting 735 kgs of equipment parts of the factory in a cab, were arrested,’ Police said.

The five suspects are residents of Nallinkapuram and Mavekalatti.

During the questioning of the five people, it has been revealed that it was three guards who helped them steal the machinery parts from the factory.

Accordingly, three security guards who were deployed for the security of the factory were also arrested by the officers of the Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau.

This factory has been closed for some time. The police say that even the machinery there has now become inoperable.
