Electricity tariff revision to be announced on July 15

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) yesterday said that the Commission will announce its second electricity tariff revision on July 15. The commission in a release yesterday said that the Commission will announce the final tariff decision on July 15 after completion of public consultation.

The Commission has decided to seek public opinion regarding the revision of second electricity tariffs proposed by Ceylon Electricity Board for 2024 as per the Electricity Act No. 20 of 2009,

“The electricity tariff proposal submitted to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka by the Ceylon Electricity Board is being reviewed and the related consultation document can be accessed via the website www.pucsl.gov.lk”, the Commission said.

The Commission added that written comments and suggestions from the public and other stakeholders regarding the proposed electricity tariff revision will be accepted till July 8, 2024. The oral session of the public consultation will be held on July 9 in Colombo.

It is expected that electricity tariff will see a considerable reduction during the second revision.
