Addressing the Parliament the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said that the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has proposed a reduction in electricity tariffs.
He said that, the proposal on electricity tariff revision will be submitted to the Public Utility Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) tomorrow or on Monday and If the proposal approved, the new electricity tariffs could come into effect from July 01.
Minister gave the following breakdown of the proposed electricity tariffs;
- 0-30 units – reduced by Rs. 2 from Rs. 8 to Rs. 6
- 30-60 units – reduced by Rs. 11 from Rs. 20 to Rs. 09
- 60-90 units – reduced by Rs. 12 from Rs. 30 to Rs. 18
- 90- 120 units –reduced by Rs. 20 from Rs. 50- Rs. 30
