Eleven OICs transferred to new stations
An order signed by IGP C. D. Wickremaratne had been issued on Thursday (2), appointing 11 Chief Inspectors of Police to the posts of Officers-In-Charge (OIC) while the Wattala Police Station OIC R. A. D. I. Rajapaksa has been deprived of his position and deploying him in general services.
Accordingly, Rajapaksa, who had been serving as the OIC of the Wattala Police Station, has transferred to Gampaha Division for general duties, and Chief Inspector of Police P.M. A.
Gunawardena who was the OIC of the Gampaha Division Special Investigations Unit has been appointed as the Wattala Police Station OIC.
A high-ranking police officer said that the Wattala Police Station OIC was transferred after an investigation based on a complaint made by several businessmen in the Wattala area. The official said that the investigation is still ongoing.
Chief Inspector H.M.K. Herath who was serving at Police Field Force Headquarters has been appointed as Ampara Headquarters Police OIC, Chief Inspector W.M.W.B.Wijekoon who was working in the Anuradhapura Division has been transferred as OIC Pulmodai, Chief Inspector R.M. Abeysinghe who was serving in the Bandarawela Police Division has been transferred as the OIC of Athimale, Chief Inspector A.M.U.R. Jayatissa who was working in the Ratnapura Police Division has been appointed as Samanalawewa OIC, Chief Inspector D. D. M. H. I. Dalkandura of the Kurunegala Division transferred as Bogamuwa OIC, Nikaweratiya Police Division Chief Inspector U. S. B. Dharmaratne appointed as OIC Thalamalagama, Chief Inspector W.A.D.C. Rohan who was working at the Police Training College has been appointed as OIC Middeniya, Chief Inspector K. Herath who was serving the Gampaha Police Division has been appointed as OIC of Walasmulla, Chief Inspector of Police H.L.C.Hiriadeniya who was working in the Research and Development Division has been appointed as Divulapitiya OIC and Chief Inspector E.M. Paity who was serving in the Batticaloa Police Division has been appointed as the Airport Police OIC.
Acting OICs have been serving in these police stations where new OICs have been appointed.
The former OIC of the Airport Police was been arrested for allowing a criminal to escape and has now been granted bail by the court and has also been suspended. Accordingly, there was a vacancy in the post of OIC of the airport police. Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickremaratne has mentioned in his order that these transfers have taken place on the basis of emergency service requirements as approved by the National Police Commission and the Election Commission.
