EPDP General Secretary, Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda said the needs of the Tamil people could be fulfilled by implementation of the National Reconciliation Policy. The Minister said this while attending a function at Velanaiththurayur Murugan Temple recently.
Minister Devananda held a discussion with the electorate-level organisers and the Divisional Secretaries of the EPDP in the island areas of Velanai, Kayts, Delft, and Karainagar.
The Minister also said that he had entered into the democratic political stream in the early 90’s. He pointed out that he has been engaged in efforts to strengthen the national reconciliation of this country and provide solutions to the problems faced by the Tamil people and he has been continuously elected to Parliament by the Tamil people for 30 years. The Minister pointed out that the people from the Island areas have given him a lot of support.
The Fisheries Minister said that he believes that the solution to ethnic problem can only be brought by national reconciliation. Therefore, our people should understand that they should support the E.P.D.P to achieve development through national reconciliation and they should realise that his party is capable of doing this task.
