Essential banking services operational through curfew

By the directive of the Central Bank in accordance with the functions permitted by the Director-General of Health Services the banking sector shall open bank branches ‘only to provide essential services such as trade financing, treasury operations, clearing activities, payment of salaries, and responding to other urgent requests.’

The banks have been instructed to operate with minimal staff and publish notices on what essential services will be obtained at branches. Banks will be expected to maintain the functioning of digital payment channels and electronic cash dispensing and receiving machines.
