Expatriate workers have remitted US$ 2.079 billion through legal banking system in the first four months of this year alone.
In April alone, workers had remitted US$ 543.8 million, the Labour and Foreign Employment Ministry said. When compared with the first four months of last year, remittances sent by expatriate workers in the first four months of this year has increased by 11.4 percent.
When compared with April of last year, foreign remittances received by the country increased by 19.7 percent in April of this year alone.
