Failure to hold full inquiry on Easter Sunday attacks baffling – Sajith
The Opposition and Samagi Jana Blawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa expressed serious concern said it is pity to say that no responsible authority has so far conducted a full scale inquiry to investigate the whole episode of the Easter Sunday attack.
The Opposition Leader made these remarks at a ceremony conducted at Muslim Madya Maha Vidyalaya where he donated a passenger bus under the SJB educational programme “Sakwala”. The SJB has so far donated 70 buses to schools countrywide for the benefit of schoolchildren.
The Opposition Leader said although the former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa during his presidential election campaign assured that he would make a full inquiry into the attack and crack down responsible persons who mastermind that barbaric attack the former President was unable to make a full inquiry into this during his short tenure.
He said not only that it is pity to say even the former President was unable to reveal the contents mentioned in the Easter Sunday Commission Report to the public.
He said he as the Opposition Leader should be aware about the report as it contained important facts related to the attack.
He further said even MPs were not given the opportunity to read the said report under the purview of the Parliament Secretary General.
The Opposition Leader said after an SJB Government comes into power in the future he will take all steps to investigate the reasons for the Easter Sunday attack and reveal the facts to people in the country.
The Opposition Leader also highlighted the value of developing English Language skills, the knowledge of Information Technology (IT), Science and Mathematics of schoolchildren.
After presenting the bus the Opposition Leader had a cordial chat with children and the staff of Muslim Madaya Maha Vidyalaya.
