Officers of the Gampaha Division Crime Investigation Bureau raided a fake currency note printing operation run in a rented house in Daranagama, Delgoda and arrested two people along with equipment.
Based on information received by the Deputy Inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department, B.K.N.U. Udayashantha, a person was arrested in the Makevita area of Gampaha. Police found six fake notes of Rs. 500 and 17 fake notes of Rs. 50 in his possession.
On questioning the suspect, police raided the house in Daranagama and arrested the occupant. A number of devices including a laptop, a laser printer, monitor, mobile phone and 12 Rs. 500 fake notes were found in his possession.
These two suspects are residents of Makevita and Pethiyagoda, aged 28 and 23.
The suspects are to be produced in court.
