Farmers dress up as big apes to scare monkeys away

They have to come up with new ways to keep the monkeys away from their crops. The farmers decided to take the matter into their hands after wildlife officials turned a blind eye to the monkey menace.

Farmers dressed up as Apes have now started to roam around in the cultivations to scare away the monkeys. The farmers say the effort has been successful so far with monkeys fleeing after seeing their big brothers coming for them. This new strategy is being used, especially in the villages of Dambulla and Galewela areas.
