Father arrested for molesting daughter; escapes from Police custody

A father arrested by the Kattankudy Police for allegedly sexually molesting his 10-year-old daughter had jumped from the jeep while being taken to the prison and had escaped.

The 36-year-old suspect is a resident of Kallady, Batticaloa.

He was arrested by the Kattankudy Police on June 23 following a complaint that he molested his daughter on June 8.

He had been taken in the police jeep to the office of the Acting Magistrate of the Batticaloa Magistrate’s Court.

The Magistrate had ordered him to be remanded until June 28. The suspect fled while being taken to be handed over to prison officials.
