The Buddhist Cultural Centre Colombo 5 celebrated Meth Saviya’s 21st anniversary alongside the Maithri Bhooshana felicitation ceremony recently presided over by Buddha Sasana and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayaka. The event recognised individuals dedicated to philanthropy and community service. Vipassi Buddhist Centre Director Ven. Rajawelle Subhuthi Thera was honoured for their instrumental role in bolstering the nation’s healthcare infrastructure. Nugegoda N Style Eye Lens Company President, Niranjala Kannangara also received accolades for her charitable endeavours.
The event, organised by Meth Saviya, included various highlights such as providing free spectacles for 150 attendees and a Yugasana Kavi Bana spiritual discourse on poetry delivered by two novice monks who were sponsored by Meth Saviya. Meth Saviya Chairperson, Prof. Chandana Jayaratne, Borella Sri Lankaramaya Chief Incumbent, Ven. Weeragoda Gnana Thera presided over the event. The event underscored Meth Saviya’s commitment to fostering community welfare and spreading compassion across the country. Meth Saviya, the mind education development charity association which has 7,800 members countrywide is chaired by Prof. Chandana Jayaratne.
